River Walk and Hospital Plans Approved

P&Z Commissioner McDevitt leaving after 12 years of service

Staff Writer

Flower Mound Planning and Zoning commissioners approved The River Walk at Central Park’s 134.3-acre record plat on Monday. The River Walk’s 12-acre proposed hospital site plan was also approved.

The hospital site plan was presented by HKS Inc. Vice President Shannon Kraus representing the architectural firm. He said the hospital has been designed to preserve trees and has been registered for LEED certification. The four LEED certification levels of certified, silver, gold and platinum correlate with the number of credits accumulated in five "Green" design categories: sustainable sites; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere; materials and resources; and indoor environmental quality.

The River Walk at Central Park development boundaries are Long Prairie Road [FM 2499], Cross Timbers Road [FM 1171] and Morris Road.

The commissioners also unanimously approved a new mixed-use zoning district to allow mixed-use development for Lakeside-DFW.

"This really raises the bar for some potential development that we can have in the town," Commissioner Brian Millichamp said.

Planning and Zoning [P&Z] Commissioner Art McDevitt also announced he would not return to the P&Z after his term expires Sept. 30.

McDevitt served on P&Z for 12 years and thanked everyone for their continuous support.
